...A NOTE ABOUT ELECTION 2004:

As most of you know, I've had the wonderful good fortune to travel the world most of the past 3 and a half years. On 9/11/2001 I was in Indonesia, the world's largest Muslim country, and remained there for the following month. And nearly every place I've been these past few years, people in each country have gone out of their way to communicate to me how much they hate what the US government, my government, is doing around the world. They are at the same time incredibly gracious about labelling separately the American people from the American government, but their frustration is acute. And I couldn't agree with them more. The very selfish and unilateral actions of George W. Bush and his regime have obliterated the sea of goodwill the world sent to us immediately post-9/11. The sad truth is that Bush has made the world an infinitely more dangerous place to be, especially as an American. I actually met George Bush at a photoshoot (earlier this summer) and found his comments to be strikingly smug and duplicitous. This is the President who brags he intentionally never reads a newspaper. Take just a moment to imagine life from the view of a normal person living in the Middle East, where the US has attacked and taken over a sovereign nation on the pretext of WMD which don't exist. Can you imagine if China invaded us on such pretext, and our reaction? Consider life from the view of a normal Iraqi citizen, where the US military kills Iraqis daily, but just can't be bothered with counting how many Iraqis they've actually killed. I just ask you to consider the view from the outside your corner latte stand, from outside your housing development in the most luxurious country in the world. Take one second out of your day to consider what the current America looks like to the rest of the world. And I then ask you to consider joining me in supporting John Kerry.
