After surviving a harrowing few days of navigating a car through the hilly center of the island, we planted on the serene northeast coast near Amed. This young entrepreneur had a big brother who worked in the hotel; most nights she would dance for the guests in the outdoor restaurant overlooking the sea. When her pre-taped musical pieces would end she would dart into the kitchen for a quick intermission and a costume change. The next day she returned with her brother to pose for some pictures in typically Balinese 95 degree heat with 90% humidity. After a half hour in the sun her stylized makeup was starting to melt down her neck.
