old Cambodian woman behind Banteay Samre photo back to CAMBODIA gallery
This woman appearred out of nowhere while I was walking behind the ruins of Banteay Samre. She seemed to be tending her fields; at least I'm hoping that's what the machete was for. She could not have had kinder eyes, and wow what a face. That's a face that's seen the entire rise and fall of the Khmer Rouge. I wonder how her face would look if her country hadn't been at war for 20 years.
