Royal Palace wat rooftop photo back to CAMBODIA gallery
A trip to the Royal Palace grounds in central Phnom Penh is well worth it, even though foreigners get charged more than double what the locals pay. If only I blended. The temple roofs often feature this winged ornament, which is a throwback to Garuda, the Hindu birdman. A Hindu quasi-deity on a Buddhist temple - such tolerance - somehow I can't imagine that flying at St. Peters.
