Thanks largely to global warming, the hurricane season in the Caribbean is becoming more vicious every year. In October, 2005, Hurricane Wilma trounced Cuba with a deluge of rain and unbelievable storm surge. This shot depicts the Malecón, the sea wall which lines Havana and on a normal day is already subject to dramatic wave splash. Hurricane Wilma tore off pieces of the Malecón seawall and flooded many of Havana's most prominent streets with waist-deep water.
