Most Americans know that the USA maintains an economic blockade against Cuba, meaning we will do no commercial trade with the country, to punish the leadership for the Communist Revolution in 1959. However, few Americans know that 1992, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, and in order to starve Cuba to the point of collapse, the US government passed something called the Torricelli Act, which stipulates, among other things, that NO commercial vessel of ANY country which had visited Cuba may come to the shores of America for 6 months afterwards. This effectively forces every country in the world to decide whether they are going to do trade with America or Cuba. And who is going to choose tiny Cuba? This effectively helps to cut Cuba off from trade with the world, not just with America, and is a highly immoral and bullyish way to deal with people outside our dominion. I remember buying some antibiotics at a pharmacy in central Cuba for a stomach malaise that were imported from Australia and looked to be ten years old.
