the great thing about the guards in London is that they are completely captive models. they are forbidden to leave, so you can practice your portrait skills on them to your heart's content. i must have 3 rolls of headshots of the same guard from every conceivable angle. here at the Tower of London this particular guard is suffering from a freakish warm spell and those tickly tickly hats. after he made this face (and he heard me fire off about 14 shots in a 2 second span) he became promptly irritated, and marched away in ceremonial step. for this exposure, i metered the camera on his face and jacket - i didn't want the camera to read all the black of his hat and the background and overexpose the shot.
