after the tour ended, a few stragglers from the group and i were determined to catch a bullfight 'ere we departed Barcelona. serendipity had it that the evening's performance was headlighted by El Juli, one of the premier bullfighters in Spain today. the crowd went absolutely ballistic at his every move. he executed large portions of the fight while KNEELING. our seats were in the nosebleed section, and even with my 300mm lens i couldn't get as close as i wanted. so i wandered down to the premium seats and finally found a guard who would let me sit on the railing for 5 minutes and shoot some closer shots. by this point it was early evening and the light was exceedingly dim - most of the shots were a little blurry but some came out fairly crisp. generally you need a shutter speed of at least 1/125 of a second to try to freeze quick action...if you move your camera WITH the motion of the subjects, you'll generally have better luck freezing THEIR movements (and blurring the background a bit - adding to the drama)...
