Milan, Italy was a quick stop on our tour, but jam-packed with content. a walk along the roof of the Duomo was like courting a city in the clouds and the gargantuan Galleria shopping plaza was resplendent. but the hotel proprietors we met made the day. one was an Italian replica of Conan O'Brien - spitting image - and then there was this guy. i needed to capture "typical Italian expressions" for the Rick Steves' book and he launched into his arsenal of guises. then he treated us to lattes! i find most people are more than happy to pose for a picture - if you say hello and show interest. it's really quite flattering to them. of course on average it works better with the opposite sex. ;)
