I'm not sure whether it was the landscape that originally manifested as such, or the Japanese culture that trained it so, but so many things in Japan seem to have a very simple, artful style (let's exclude the Tokyo freeway system). I noticed my pictures tended to become very strong, isolated, zen compositions, whether I wanted them to or not. The roof of Sambutsu-do (in the Nikko temple area) and this bare tree with clouds follow that trend.
