At the time I went, Kiritimati received one commercial flight per week from Hawaii, a plane packed with a small handful of tourists (mostly fishermen) and the island's weekly supplies. That flight afforded me this view of the tiny island's central lagoon system; the polarized glass on the plane windows helped create the strange rainbow effect.
