Built in 1600, the famous Bridge of Sighs is so named because it was the medieval skywalk between the inquisitor's rooms in the Doge's main palace and the city prison. Tiny faceted carved windows adorn the center, and afforded the prisoner his last ever view of the outside world. "Sigh."
